Good luck - I have seen several times where others proceeded how you where thinking to, only to have the CA them report the item as a paid collection after payment is made they transfered me to what I thought was an internal dept but really was a CA. I paid and years later say a paid collection from a CA noting they were the assignee of the OC. Didn't know then what I know now :oops:

Just checked equifax. 3 negatives deleted today. One paid charge-off, one collection account, and FIRST USA!!!. Don't know why - two were in dispute, the paid charge off was not. I did send a "fix or I sue in 5 days letter! YAY!!!! My fico for equifax is now 701!!!!!! I still have a few items in dispute, so I don't know what my score will settle at - but what a thrill to see this number if just for a few days! And tomorrow is the first day of school! What a great night this is turning out to be!
